AJ: Mommy, my ears are for hearing.
Me: That’s right. What are your eyes for?
AJ: My eyes are for looking.
Me: Yep. What about your nose?
AJ: My nose is for making boogies.

inMe: What do you want for lunch, AJ?
AJ: A sandwich please.
Me: Ok. What kind of sandwich?
AJ: Peanut butter.
Me: Just peanut butter?
AJ: No… How bout peanut butter, cheese and mayo.
Me: I’m not sure all those things would taste good together in a sandwich…
AJ: You’re right. Maybe put it on toast instead.

inAJ: Mommy, where is that egg piece?
Me: What egg piece?
AJ: That purple egg piece.
Me: You mean that lone half of plastic egg that’s been haunting me since Easter?
AJ: Yes! I need it!
Me: Oh… let me get it… I must have accidentally put it in recycling again…

inThat moment when your potty training toddler zips past you and slams the bathroom door in an effort to “go all by himself.”
Waiting nervously on the other side as you try to give him his space.
That moment when you open the door to find him standing in the DARK, beaming proudly. “I did it all by myself, Mommy!” You realize the stool he’s standing on is 2 feet away from the the potty…
Sometimes, there’s just not enough Lysol.

inMe: “It’s time to wake up, AJ.” I rub his back. “Wake up, sleepy head.”
AJ: Sits up and rubs his eyes. He looks around sleepily. In a small cracked voice he says “Watching movie…” Long pause. “Watching Thomas train movie… having fun.”
He lays back down on his pillow. “Not all done.”
